It’s been a few weeks (actually a few weeks longer than I’d thought) since we updated you on the progress. At this point, things are going fairly well. My PhD application is finally into the university and now we’re waiting on the Romanian Ministry of Education to approve. It ended up taking a bit longer than I’d thought, partly because of several last minute requests. The biggest one was needing to track down my high school transcript. Of course that meant a last minute trip to CAK. There’s a funny story around that, but I’ll put that in a separate post.
In addition to that, we’re still slowly clearing out stuff. Last weekend (July 2nd), we had a art and booze party with the goal of getting rid of both. We were partly successful, for sure. I think we’re down to maybe a quarter of the art from before and we did empty a couple of bottles of booze that day and over the next couple of days. I do think that the stuff shedding will start in ernest this week.
The house is a different matter. We are still on the market with no imminent offers. We have made a few tweaks, including a slight price reduction and are having anther open house Sunday July 9. If you know of anyone in the market …. It’s been an interesting process. Being a nerd and all that, I can watch the comings and goings of people and can see just how long they spend in the house. I’ve seen people come and go as quickly as 2-3 minutes and others stay as long as 45 minutes. It’s hard to tell what that means, though I do tend to think the in and out quickly visits are generally a bad sign.
At this point, we’re just plugging away and moving towards the inevitable departure. Hopefully our next post will mark us under contract and moving towards a sale, but only time will tell.
Oh, one last thing. I’ve been approved for an academic leave of absence from IBM. I’m hoping that’ll free me up to be a bit more communicative.
