For those of you who have been following us, you know that this whole move started with my desire for a PhD. What's interesting is this whole process has almost been a ready, fire, aim bit in that we sold the house and committed to moving before even knowing if I'd be accepted. We'd received assurances that I should be good, but we still had to hear back from the Romanian Minstry of Education.
That answer finally came through on Wednesday morning. According to them, my lack of a master's degree disqualifies me from participating in a PhD program. Ugh. Needless to say, that's been causing us to scramble around a bit to determine what our next steps are. We've reached out to a number of people and the best we can tell that answer is final. So, no PhD (yet) for me.
Where does that leave us? Well, it leaves us still going and trying to pivot to a Master's instead. I still want to further my education and we definitely still want to go to Romania, so it seems like the next logical option. Now, it's just a matter of trying to get the paperwork in and hope/pray that they let me in.
